School - Breede River Rafting Weekend

Xama Adventures, an adventure travel specialist based in the beautiful city of Cape Town, offers a 2 night package with a river rafting trail on the majestic Breede River, just 24kms from the old-world country town of Swellendam.  This trail offers a fantastic opportunity to escape city life for a mid week break or the weekend, and really is a must do!  Our private camp is wonderfully green and lush and overlooks the Breede River, whilst the ablution blocks are spotless and have piping hot water. Electrical points available in camp.

Please note!!!

We don’t allow any glass bottles on the water so decant into plastic containers or bring cans. We recommend that you arrive with your drinks cold as we operate in remote areas, and bring at least 2 x 1L bottles of drinking water as the river water is not good to drink.

We do provide drinking water in camp to replenish your bottles.

Bring ice and your cooler box!!!

Day 1:   Arrive at our Xama Fish Eagle River Camp Swellendam

Upon arrival (by way of own transport), you are greeted by the river crew and shown around the camp, after which you get the chance to settle in before some activities.  The evening is spent relaxing around the camp fires underneath the centralised lapa, with a delicious dinner served around 19h30.

  • Included meals Dinner
  • Tented accommodation (large dome tent with full mattress and fitted sheets)

Day 2:   On the Breede River

We wake early for a healthy breakfast, after which we are driven upstream to our put-in point.  Here we have a safety briefing before getting into our 2 man inflatable rafts and spending the day paddling, negotiating rapids, enjoying the sunshine and the lovely landscape.  We stop for lunch on a sand bar and hit the water again, arriving back at base camp at approximately 15h00.  Rest of the day is spent relaxing around the camp and having some fun in the sun (volley ball, soccer, touch rugga, cricket, bucket golf). Enjoy swimming, games available or rent a fishing rod and try your luck for some carp, springers, barbel, bass and some others.

Day 3.  Departure day.

Awake to the sounds of the resident Fish Eagles. A Xama farm style breakfast is prepared and  enjoyed in the main lapa. After breakfast  one has the opportunity to relax around the camp, take a dip in the plunge pool or take a paddle up stream and enjoy a relaxing float back to camp. Nappy run for those wishing to try something different. Departure is at ones own leisure after lunch.

We trust you have enjoyed your stay and rafting experience and hope to see you with us on one of our exciting safaris or rafting trips again.
